HUNTERS

Carina Press, June 22, 2010
ISBN: 9781426890222
Harmony Knox, a Kirillian bounty hunter, has been in an AEssyrian prison for a year after being arrested for smuggling a blaster on the planet in an attempt to apprehend her very dangerous bounty, Prime, a roach-like being that likes to murder and eat other species. When Harmony is released from prison, she is annoyed to see that her employer sent Bart Tanner, a human bounty hunter with whom she has a very antagonistic relationship, to pick her up. Bart has a real hatred for Kirillians after being captured by some and forced to fight in matches to the death. Needless to say, the sparks fly between these two, as they are forced to be together and go after bounties.
HUNTERS is a very entertaining futuristic romance, which has many hot, love scenes bordering on the erotic and a great couple. Harmony and Bart have some things in common, even though they are from different worlds. Besides being bounty hunters, they are both covering an intense loneliness. It is great fun watching these two lost souls slowly realize, that the other one fills up the hole in their lonely life. While at first, I was concerned about Bart's attitude, he seems to be more in tune to his emotions than Harmony and it's surprising to find that he is a cuddler. Harmony, on the other hand, has built a wall around her emotions, because of a childhood raised by cold, remote parents. It takes a near disaster to get her to come to grips with her emotions. The world-building is, also, excellent and intriguing, and I'm hoping to see more books set in this very imaginative world.

Review of THROUGH THE TRIANGLE
THROUGH THE TRIANGLE
C.P. Stewart
Outskirts Press, Inc., 2009
ISBN: 978-1-4327-4036-8
Jake Myers hopes to start rebuilding his relationship with his son, Nathan, during a fishing trip off the coast of Florida. Mason Bankowski, the charter boat captain, his helper, Juan, and one other passenger, Allen Cranson, set out on the fishing trip. Unfortunately, Allen isn't who he appears to be, because escaped convict, Manny Contraldo, murdered Cranston and assumed his identity in an effort to escape capture. Things go from bad to worse, when the boat runs into a strange storm and fog and comes out in a very changed world.
THROUGH THE TRIANGLE is an entertaining science fiction read with great characters, that takes place in an interesting world. Mr. Stewart builds a unique world, which is confusing and dangerous for his characters, but, also, very plausible for the reader. This reader became invested in the characters' struggles and rooted for them to overcome and survive, especially, Jake. Jake is a very likable character, who is trying his best to raise a rebellious teen, and then, gets thrown into a strange situation, which tests his intelligence, bravery, and humanity. The secondary characters are almost as appealing, and Manny is a chilling villain. Intertwined within this science fiction story is a lovely romance, which adds to the enjoyment of the read. The only criticism, which I can offer for this book is that sometimes the pace is slowed by excessive description. For example, I don't need to know in any detail about someone getting gas unless it furthers the plot. However, this happens mainly at the beginning of the book and isn't a major hindrance to the story.

Review of THE PANTHER'S LAIR
THE PANTHER'S LAIR
Esmeralda Bishop
Carina Press, 2010
ISBN: 978-1-4268-9030-7
Sydney Chase is tired of getting her heart broken and decides to have fun with men without getting involved emotionally. Sydney and her friend go to one of the hottest nightclubs in town, The Panther's Lair, and just when she is about to call it a night, Sydney meets the sexy owner of the club, Raimond Decoudreau. Sydney decides that Raimond will be her first one-night stand, but will one night be enough?
THE PANTHER'S LAIR is an erotic, shape shifter romance with a yummy alpha hero and a very relatable heroine. Sydney and Raimond really steam up the pages together, and Sydney, who really tries to keep an emotional distance, finds it harder with each encounter. Raimond, who knows that Sydney is his soulmate, fears revealing his true nature too soon and scaring her off. Sydney is a very sympathetic character, because she has been hurt many times before and seeks to save herself further pain. Fortunately, her first encounter after her momentous decision is with the irresistible Raimond.
All in all, THE PANTHER'S LAIR is an enjoyable short story with many hot love scenes. If you are looking to spend some time with a hot shape shifter, give THE PANTHER'S LAIR a try.

Ratings Scale
I've been thinking about doing a ratings scale for my reviews, but I'm stymied as to what to use. I was thinking about 1-5 meows. Please tell me what you think, and offer suggestions.
