Because I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, I can't stand for very long at the time. Before I got this rollater, I had to limit myself to stores with motorized carts. Now,I can go more places, get out more, and get more exercise.

    I'll never be a writer

I'll never be a writer, because of the whole procrastination problem.  I start books and, well, don't follow through.  Here is a sample of one of my works.  What do you think?

Percival Reginald George Markham, 9th Earl of Ravenshire and heir to a dukedom, was the darling of the ton but he had a deep, dark secret.  No Percy wasn't a drunkard, nor a gambler, and he didn't associate with loose women.  These qualities were often overlooked by the ton.  Unfortunately, Percy's secret was likely to make him a subject of ridicule and cause his family embarrassment, for it seems that Percy was a great scholar and his library was used for something other than show.  In his spare time, Percy conducted scientific experiments and held archaeological digs on his outlying properties.  Percy dreaded the season, when he must again become what society expected for the sake of his family.

When Percy's secret was discovered by his family, Percy's father blamed his mother's side , for, after all, she had an uncle who thought he was Caesar's horse.  Percy's mother responded that his father had a great aunt, who saw fairies.  Both parents made it clear, that society need not know of his "little hobbies".

    Review of TEMPTING THE ENEMY

    TEMPTING THE ENEMY
    Dee Tenorio
    Carina Press, June 14, 2010
    ISBN:  9781426890123

Detective Pale Rysen, who is an alpha wolf shifter and must keep this secret because shifters are hunted, is working on a serial killer case, in which, several young women were killed.  A few of these women were found by some of his pack and were young female shifters seeking sanctuary with his pack.  Pale must keep the shifters' deaths secret to protect his pack.

The Order of Sibile is a group of people with different psychic powers, who live separately from the humans and shifters.  The Order hires out their members to perform tasks for humans.  Because some members of the Order have been paid to hunt and exterminate shifters, Pale hates them with a great passion.  Unfortunately, the Order sends Jade-Scarlet to track down the killer, and to make matters worse, Jade is a half wolf shifter and in heat.  Needless to say, Pale is seriously conflicted, because he is physically attracted but repelled at the same time, because she is a member of the group that is an enemy to his kind.  Meanwhile, the killer continues on his spree and taunts them at every opportunity.

TEMPTING THE ENEMY is an entertaining, paranormal read filled with suspense and great characters.  The world-building in this book is elaborate and believable, and the mystery and suspense kept me glued to the pages.  I'll just state upfront, that I fell a little in love with Pale.  At first, I thought Pale need to take his relationship to the next level with Jade sooner than he did.  However, once Jade's character is slowly revealed, it becomes evident, that Pale's restraint is done out of love and concern for Jade.  Jade is kept in almost total seclusion, behind the walls of the Order's enclave, where she is taught to use her powers and to deny her wolf self.  Through Pale's patience and understanding, Jade slowly learns to accept her wolf self.  Jade is strong, yet filled with self-doubt, which she must overcome, in order, to survive the truly chilling villain.  The politics and society, which is revealed about the Order is rather disturbing, and there is a foreshadowing of more upheaval to come.

TEMPTING THE ENEMY goes on my virtual keeper shelf and is one of my favorite reads of 2010.  What's not to love?  It has a hot, sigh-worthy hero in a complex, intriguing world and a heroine, who is his match in every way.  I'm really hoping this is the beginning of a series, because I can't wait to see what happens next.

    Review of INTO PROTECTION

    INTO PROTECTION
    Terry Chaudhuri
    Schiel and Denver Publishing, 2010
    ISBN:  978-1-84903-028-1

Ralph Shepard is a good cop, but he becomes obsessed with putting away crime boss, Victor Lazano.  When Ralph gets too close to the evidence that will do just that, Victor has him eliminated and the evidence destroyed.  This leaves Ralph's ten year old son, Derek, an orphan.  Luckily, Derek's best friend, Jimmy Cole, and his family take him in and give him a home.  The two boys become blood brothers and make a pack to see Victor arrested.  Years later, Derek is a detective, and like his father, he becomes obsessed with arresting Victor.  Unfortunately, Victor is as slippery as ever, and it seems that he must have some law enforcement officers on his payroll.  Meanwhile, Jimmy has become an FBI agent, who handles some very secretive cases.

INTO PROTECTION is a gritty, suspenseful, thriller which, also, has a little romance thrown in for good measure.  While the action and suspense kept me reading in anticipation, there are a couple of points, which cause questions.  One of these is the fact that Derek, who is supposedly obsessed with Victor, has no idea who Victor's wife is.  Secondly, I would have liked a more in depth explanation of Jimmy's behavior.  However, these are minor quibbles and didn't detract much from my overall enjoyment of the novel.  The characters are well-developed and the villain is especially slimy, and the ending is shocking and unexpected in some ways.  Needless to say, INTO PROTECTION is an enjoyable read, which I recommend.

NOTE:  I received this book in return for an impartial review.
